Samsung urges you to “Remix Your Everyday” with Samsung Galaxy S9’s Super Slow-mo, a feature presented in the brand’s new commercial.
The 30-second spot highlights that the 960 fps Super Slow-mo allows you to add music, swing, reverse and loop, while on screen Samsung users are seen doing that in several situations: a woman is filming herself blowing her hair in front of the mirror and adds epic music, for instance. Loop is used to capture the moment a guy hits a football with his head, swing is used to make hilarious a dog’s walk, and reverse is used to create a surreal moment, with a guy coming out of a pool.
The soundtrack music is the latest single by Kenyan-Norwegian singer, songwriter and rapper Stella Mwangi, titled “No Games”, which was released earlier this month, on April 13. Mwangi, who had the privilege, as a teenager, of being the support act for artists as diverse as Talib Kweli, Busta Rhymes, Flo-Rida, Rick Ross and Angelique Kidjo, gained notoriety in February 2011, when she won the Norwegian selection to the Eurovision Song Contest and represented Norway in the ESC 2011 in Düsseldorf.
Super Slow-mo only supports HD resolution and is limited to 20 shots per video with approximately 0.2 seconds of recording and 6 seconds of playback for each shot.
This is not the first time Samsung presents this feature in a Galaxy S9 commercial. In the “Camera Reimagined” spot, soundtracked by Aston Merrygold’s “Get Stupid”, the South Korean manufacturer highlights the Dual Aperture camera, which adjusts based on light levels, like the human eye, enabling users to capture stunning pictures in both bright daylight and super low light, and can capture slo-mo footage that is four times slower than the competition. Among other features of the new Galaxy S9 and S9+ are the camera’s capability to create customized emojis based on the user’s face, offer real-time translation when you need it, and recognize you instantly, thanks to Intelligent Scan, a technology that combines face recognition and iris scan to make unlocking simple even in low light.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 is now offered at $719.99 unlocked and the Galaxy S9+ at $839.99. The same prices apply at the largest US carriers including T-Mobile, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and U.S. Cellular.
