Netflix 2018 Movies: Dude (Trailer Song)

Dude - Netflix 2018 Movie

Netflix has released the trailer for its upcoming original film Dude, described as “a raunchy coming-of-age comedy” from first-time director Olivia Milch.

The movie revolves around Lily (Lucy Hale) and her three best friends – Amelia, Chloe, and Rebecca (played by Alexandra Shipp, Kathryn Prescott, and Queens-born rapper Awkwafina) – as they navigate loss and major life changes during their last two weeks of high school. While wondering what the future holds for them, they also smoke a lot of weed and the trailer reveals that through several scenes featuring them do that in the backseat of a car, at parties, and many other places. The cast also includes Alex Wolff, Austin Abrams, Satya Bhabha, Nora Dunn, Hillary Duff, Esther Povitsky, Brooke Smith, and others.

The trailer opens with Hale’s character being pulled over by a cop and asked what’s that bong in the backseat, which makes her tell a lie, obviously, while flashbacks from the night before come to reveal that she and her mates have been smoking in the backseat. “What were you thinking? Driving around with a bong in the backseat of your car? Who do you think you are? Willie Nelson? Even he got arrested,” the police officer tells her. Subsequent scenes give viewers a glimpse into the girls’ trials and tribulations, as they wish for them to become life partners.

The song used in the trailer is Awkwafina’s 2014 single “Marijuana”, from her debut album, “Yellow Ranger”.

The streaming service, which acquired distribution rights to the film in May 2017, will release “Dude” later this month, on April 20.
