Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez become rivals in the latest Gatorade football campaign, titled “Everything Changes”, which marks the biggest international campaign in the brand’s history of more than 5 decades.
The two FC Barcelona players are best friends until they end up playing for different teams during the European season – this is the main idea of the campaign film, which features them doing all kinds of things to hurt each other’s feelings, things that include jabs at each other, unfollow on social media, controversial statements during press conferences, selling a T-shirt with emotional value for $2, and more. The spot highlights that “Everything changes, except what’s inside them”, nodding at the duo’s common “passion”: fueling and hydrating Gatorade.
The campaign also marks the launch of Gatorade Football Energy, the brand’s first sport-specific product, which is developed for football players, from amateur to professional levels. The drink is available in Lemon, Mango and Orange flavors on the brand’s website for the moment.
The campaign also features Brazilian National Team superstar and Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus and includes, besides TV, digital and social media activity, point-of-sale, print and more.
