Baskin-Robbins Boston Cream Pie Commercial – Dancer Sione Kelepi

Baskin-Robbins, the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shop restaurants, announces, in a new ad, that April’s Flavor of the Month is Boston Cream Pie.

The 15-second spot, titled “Boston Cream Pie GOT ME LIKE”, features 420 pound Polynesian dancer Sione Kelepi (who stars in Meghan Trainor’s “All About the Bass” music video) and an animated ice cream showing off their moves, while several persons are ready to indulge themselves with Baskin-Robbins sweets, including new Cookie Cakes and more. The ad also introduces the new Boston Cream Pie, which now includes a second chocolate ice cream base, delivering even more classic Boston Cream Pie flavor in every scoop. This fan favorite will be in stores for a limited time only.

This April, Boston Cream Pie, invented over 150 years ago, in 1856, by a chef at a Boston, Massachusetts hotel, is celebrating its 45th anniversary in the Baskin-Robbins flavor library. According to the ice cream chain, this flavor is perfect for celebrating other Boston events this April, including Boston’s famous road race on April 16th and Paul Revere’s famous midnight ride during the American Revolution on April 18th, 1775.

The new Cookie Cakes, which look a bit like giant ice cream sandwiches, with two round chocolate chip cookie or brownie crusts stacked around 20 oz of Baskin-Robbins ice cream flavor, including Boston Cream Pie, and seasonal flavor Horchata Ice, are inspired by what Baskin-Robbins fans said they would like for birthdays and other celebrations. The Cookie Cakes are offered in two classic designs: the Celebrations Cookie Cake, which is topped with whipped topping, colorful frosting, and rainbow confetti sprinkles, and the Fudge Brownie ‘n OREO Cookie Cake, which is topped with whipped topping, OREO cookies, fudge drizzle and a fudge border. Both Cookie Cakes are available to order and customize online at the brand’s website or in-store at local Baskin-Robbins.

Sione Kelepi, who goes by Sione Maraschino on Vine, first gained notoriety in September 2013, when a video of him doing what he called the “Maraschino step” to Kendrick Lamar’s “m.A.A.d City” in an Orlando parking lot, went viral. In 2014, Sione, then aged 22, was featured in the music video for “All About That Bass,” Meghan Trainor’s debut hit, which has gotten more than 90 million views on YouTube.
