Mountain Dew promotes its first ever clear, lemon-lime flavoured Dew in a new commercial starring Morgan Freeman.
The 15-second spot features the acclaimed actor sitting in a chair by a fireplace and grabbing a bottle of Mountain Dew Ice from an ice-filled silver bowl. After taking a sip, Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On” starts playing and Freeman taps his feet on the floor, which immediately gets covered in ice, along with music. Finally, he puts out the fire in the fireplace with a simple, but ice cold blow and says the tagline “The new Mountain Dew Ice – A clear, refreshing, lemon lime dew”.
The Oscar Award winning actor also starred in a joint Super Bowl commercial this year for Doritos and Mountain Dew, delivering an epic lip-sync performance of Missy Elliott’s “Get Ur Freak On” in a head-to-head rap battle against Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, who throws down Busta Rhymes’ speedy verse from “Look At Me Now” to promote Doritos’ new Blaze flavor. The ad also features cameos from Busta Rhymes and Missy themselves, who appear in portraits inside the Doritos-Mountain Dew mansion.
