Kia Motors has just released its full Super Bowl commercial, revealing the identity of the mysterious person in the red Kia Stinger, whose hand was seen in the teaser recently launched. The person is Steven Tyler.
Set in an abandoned racetrack, the ad opens with the rock and roll icon getting ready for something. He ties his shoes, zips his jacket and steps out of his trailer, parked right in the middle of the racetrack. A portrait of young Steven Tyler is seen for a moment inside the camping van. Going out, Tyler heads toward the red 2018 Kia Stinger GT2, gets in and begins a ride in reverse, while racing icon Emerson Fittipaldi, who arrived just in time, watches him. At the end of the ride, the man getting off the Kia Stinger is not the Steven Tyler that got in, but a much younger version of himself, approached by dozens of women willing to have his autograph, hardly stopped by security guards. At this point, the 1973 hit song “Dream On” (written by Steven Tyler, who was the lead singer of Aerosmith, for the band’s self-titled debut album, starts playing in the background.
The commercial, created by David & Goliath and titled “Feel Something Again”, marks the 9th consecutive year that Kia advertises at the Super Bowl. This year, the Big Game takes place on February 4th, at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, and is broadcast on NBC.
Among the other automotive companies that run commercials during the Super Bowl this year also are Lexus, with a spot featuring Chadwick Boseman as King T’Challa (aka Black Panther) and showcasing the new Lexus LS 500, and Hyundai, that promises, in a teaser, to continue its “Better Drives Us” theme and surprise millions. Other celebrities starring in Super Bowl ads this year are also Martha Stewart, Chris Elliott, Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Bill Hader, Tiffanny Haddish, Alfonso Ribeiro, Keanu Reeves, Chris Pratt, Morgan Freeman, Peter Dinklage, Cindy Crawford, as well as Amazon’s CEO, Jeff Bezos.
