Ford showcases, in a new commercial, the 2019 Mustang Shelby GT500, which will be, according to the automaker, “the pinnacle of Mustang performance, highlighting the innovation, ingenuity and passion of Ford Performance”.
Titlted “The Legend Returns” and soundtracked by Flint Eastwood’s “Find What You’re Looking For”, the spot reveals that the all-new Mustang, arriving in 2019, has more than 700 horsepower projected, which makes it the most powerful street-legal production Ford ever, and twice as powerful as the original 1967 Mustang performance model.
The ad, which opens with a close-up of a cobra’s eye, spotlights some of the GT500’s features, including the Cobra logo on the forged-aluminum wheels, before the sports car, unveiled in Face Red, speeds down outside the warehouse it was in.
The 2018 5.0L Mustang (starting at $25.585), the latest in a long line of legendary V8s, features 460 horses and 420 lb.-ft. of torque, 19-inch forged-aluminum wheels, LED Front Lighting, 12-Inch LCD Digital Instrument Cluster with MyColor, available SYNC 3, Shaker ProAudio with HD Radio Technology, available SiriusXM radio, as well as a suite of driver-assist technologies including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Lane-Keeping System and Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert.
