The first international trailer for the cinematic adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 science fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time has been released, announcing that the film will hit the UK theaters on March 23.
Directed by Ava DuVernay from a script by Jennifer Lee, the film follows Meg Murry, her highly intelligent younger brother, and a friend, as they travel the universe, helped along their journey by three celestial beings, Mrs. Which, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mr. Who, to save her astrophysicist father, who is being held captive on a distant planet.
The cast ensemble includes Storm Reid as Meg Murry, Deric McCabe as Charles Wallace Murry, Chris Pine as their father, Dr. Alex Murry, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as their mother, Oprah Winfrey as Mrs. Which, Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit, Mindy Kaling as Mrs. Who, Michael Peña, , Zach Galifianakis, Levi Miller, and others.
The trailer, soundtracked by Alessia Cara’s “Scars To Your Beautiful”, opens with Meg explaining a classmate that her dad, who disappeared a while back, believed that people could travel the Universe instantaneously, and features Reese Witherspoon as Mrs. Whatsit showing up in Meg’s backyard and taking her, her brother and the boy on another planet in just a second, proving that what her father believed was really possible. The kids’ journey becomes a challenging quest as Dr. Alex Murry is in danger and the only one who can find him is Meg. “Have faith in who you are.”, “Trust nothing.”, “Be a warrior.” – are only a few of the pieces of advice given to Meg along the way. Initially set for an April 6, 2018 release, A Wrinkle in Time is now set to be released in the US on March 9.
