Warner Bros. has released the trailer for the upcoming Steven Spielberg’s film, “Ready Player One”, an adaptation of Ernest Cline’s bestseller of the same name.
With a screenplay by Zak Penn and Ernest Cline, the sci-fi action adventure film is set in Columbus, Ohio, 2045, and follows a young man named Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan) as he joins a contest in a whole virtual reality universe called OASIS, in which participants must find a digital Easter egg hidden there by James Halliday (Mark Rylance), the brilliant creator of OASIS, in order to become heir to his immense fortune and get, in addition to that, total control of the OASIS itself.
The cast ensemble also includes Olivia Cooke, Ben Mendelsohn, T.J. Miller, Simon Pegghe, and Mark Rylance.
The trailer reveals that “people come to the OASIS for all the things they can do, but they stay for all the things they can be.” and gives viewers a sneek peek into Wade’s adventures as he tries to win the game. However, he soon discovers this “isn’t just a game”. “The OASIS is the world’s most important economic resource.” – a character is heard saying while on screen action-packed scenes rule. Soon, Wade, who admits of having gone to the OASIS only to escape and having found something bigger than just himself, embarks on a mission to save the OASIS.
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 30, 2018.
The songs used in the trailer are “World In My Eyes” by Depeche Mode and “Jump” by Van Halen.
