The first trailer for the upcoming sci-fi action film Alita: Battle Angel has been released.
Based on Yukito Kishiro’s Battle Angel Alita manga, this live action adaptation directed by Robert Rodriguez is set in a post-apocalyptic dystopian city and follows Alita (Rosa Salazar), an android who’s found in a scrap pile with no arms or legs and brought back to life by Dr. Dyson Ido (Christoph Waltz), a scientist that gives her new arms and legs and becomes her caretaker. Alita soon finds herself on a journey to discover the truth about who she is and fight for her life, as Zapan (Ed Skrein), a robotic antagonist, is intended to kill her.
The trailer features Salazar’s character, complete with CGI anime eye, receiving new arms and legs and fighting against Skrein’s character. She is also seen literally giving her heart to Keean Johnson’s character, Hugo, who plays her love interest. Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Michelle Rodriguez, Lana Condor are also seen in the trailer, which is soundtracked by “Lullaby for a Soldier” from Sons of Anarchy, performed by Maggie Siff.
Alita: Battle Angel is scheduled to hit theaters on July 20, 2018.
