Paramount Pictures has released the official trailer for the upcoming animated comedy mystery film Sherlock Gnomes, directed by John Stevenson.
A sequel to the 2011’s Gnomeo & Juliet, the film follows renown detective Sherlock Gnomes on his mission to investigate the disappearance of several garden gnomes, after being recruited by Gnomeo and Juliet. The voice cast includes James McAvoy as Gnomeo, Emily Blunt as Juliet, Johnny Depp as Sherlock Gnomes, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Julie Walters, Stephen Merchant, Ashley Jensen, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Richard Wilson, and others.
The trailer features Sherlock Gnomes introducing himself as a “sworn protector of garden gnomes” when coming to see what happened with the gnomes that have been living in the same yard with Gnomeo and Juliet, and leading the couple and a few other fellows through an adventure to save the gnomes, that are apparently in danger, risking to be smashed.
The songs used in the trailer are a cover version of Elton John’s 1983 hit single “I’m Still Standing” and, at the end of the trailer, the 2015 single “Make It Roll” by Panauh Kalayeh & James Desmond.
The film, featuring original music by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, is scheduled to be released in theaters and 3D on March 23, 2018.
