Dwayne Johnson - Rampage (2018 Movie)

Dwayne Johnson returns to the silver screen in 2018 as a Primatologist who embarks on a mission to save the world and an ape in the upcoming thriller Rampage.

Directed by Brad Peyton, the film, that is an adaptation of the video game Rampage, follows Johnson’s character, Davis Okoye, as he teams up with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote for the mutation experienced by George, a silverback gorilla that has been in his care since birth. In the process, he finds out there are other similarly altered animals, turned into raging creatures of enormous size, including a 30-foot wolf and a giant crocodile, after rogue genetic experiments gone awry.

The cast ensemble also includes Naomie Harris, Malin Akerman, Joe Manganiello, Jake Lacy, Jeffrey Dean Morgan,
Breanne Hill, P.J. Byrne), Marley Shelton, Matt Gerald, and Jack Quaid.

The trailer reveals quite a lot of the plot, with lots of suspense and thrilling scenes, as well as with comedic ones, like the one featuring Johnson telling to Naomie Harris’ character “Let’s go save the world” and failing to take the helicopter he’s trying to pilot off the ground. “It’s coming back to me. It’s coming back.” – he says, winking to her. Shots of George destroying everything on his way through Chicago (that needs to be evacuated) and Johnson’s character being the only one making efforts to prevent having him put down remind viewers – probably – of King Kong.

The music playing in the trailer is the 1995 single “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” by the American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins. The song, that won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance, is included on the band’s double album “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness”.

Rampage is scheduled to open in theaters beginning April 20, 2018.
