Mastercard Australia celebrates its status of official partner of Cricket Australia with a new spot introducing the Barbie Army, which has been designed to rival the sounds of England’s most passionate fans during the 2017/2018 Magellan Ashes.
The ad includes footage of Australian criketer Mitchell Starc, former Australian cricketer Mike Hussey and award-winning musician turned sport satirist Denis Carnahan talking about their endeavor to bring Australian cricket fans together through a playful chant. “Well, today we’re trying to come up with some songs to get the Aussie crowd supporting the Aussie team.” – Starc says, who also reveals that he and Hussey got Denis to help them out.
“Hopefully, the Aussie crowd can get behind some of these songs.” – Starc also says, while Hussey is seen recording. Among the lyrics heard in the short clip there are “Where is warm beer? That’s in England.”, which make Starc and Hussey start laughing out loud.
Mastercard highlights that recruitment for the Army has already begun and invites you to visit its Facebook page
