Apple has launched its Christmas campaign with a commercial featuring one of the iPhone’s accessories: AirPods.
The spot, titled “Sway”, features a young woman on a snowy day walking down a sidewalk and listening to Sam Smith’s “Palace” through her AirPods. As the music starts playing, she begins swaying as if she was in her own world. At some point, after crossing a street, she crashes into a guy, which makes her get back to reality. Not for long, though. Looking straight into his eyes, she decides to pass him on one of her AirPods so that he could listen to that track, as well, and drags him through a covered walk, on a bridge and on empty streets, swaying together to the rhythms of the song.
As the spot ends, the couple are seen getting close to each other and almost kissing on the lips, with their eyes closed. But, here comes the twist: it turns out that this dance in two was only in her mind. In fact, they stopped on the sidewalk to look into each other’s eyes and then kept going, each in different directions. “move someone this holiday” – a final onscreen line reads, before the Apple logo appears.
The AirPods, described as “Wireless. Effortless. Magical.”, instantly turn on and connect to your iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac when they are pulled out of the charging case. As soon as you put them in your ears, audio automatically plays and, when you take them out, pauses. According to Apple, AirPods deliver “an industry-leading 5 hours of listening time on one charge” and “they’re made to keep up with you, thanks to a charging case that holds multiple additional charges for more than 24 hours of listening time.” They are available for purchase for $159.
