Amazon Prime has released the official trailer for the upcoming comedy drama series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The show, written and directed by Amy Sherman-Palladino (creator of Gilmore Girls), is set in 1958 New York and tells the story of Miriam “Midge” Maisel, a woman who has a seemingly perfect life: a perfect husband, two kids, and an Upper West Side apartment, where they organize elegant Yom Kippur dinners. When her life takes an unexpected turn, she discovers a previously unknown talent and decides to use it: she becomes a stand-up comic.
The cast includes Rachel Brosnahan, Michael Zegen, Alex Borstein, Marin Hinkle, Tony Shalhoub, and others.
The trailer begins with Mrs. Maisel giving a toast at her own wedding and conveys the message “When life falls apart, you stand up and get your act together.”, while in the background Vaya con Dios’ single “Something’s Got A Hold On Me” is playing.
“I was a great wife, I was fun.” – she says on the stage, after getting separated, adding that she can’t believe she’s losing her husband to a woman named Penny Pen”. The trailer ends with Mrs. Maisel and the owner of the club she’s doing her shows admitting in front of a lawyer the truth regarding another thing she’s accused of: “Miming a whore tickling a man’s testicles”.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will be released this fall, on November 29.
