Snapchat has introduced Context Cards and launched a new commercial to showcase how you could use them.
The spot features a group of friends using the Context Cards to go from the beach to The Sunny Cafe in LA to have some pancakes, described as being the “best pancakes ever” by a customer who made a review, then to the County Fair, taking an UberX, and then, late at night, to Hotel 58, after seeing that it’s open until 2AM, where they’re having fun at a pool party.
The ad presents, thus, all the things that Context Cards can show, from reviews from critics and customers, directions to the venue, phone numbers to contact, hours of operation, to websites for additional information, more snaps from around that area, rides from ride-sharing services, and reservations at restaurants. In order to make all this data available, Snapchat has been working with companies and creators like Bookatable, Foursquare,
Google Maps, Lyft, Mapbox, TripAdvisor, Uber, Resy, Michelin, and others.
The song used in the ad is the 2016 single “When We Were Young” by The Wild Wild, represented by Santa Cruz-based musician and songwriter Benjamin Dunn, who launched this project in 2014.
