Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018 Movie)

The trailer for the follow-up to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 “Pacific Rim”, “Pacific Rim: Uprising”, has been released.

“We were born into a world at war. Between the monsters that destroyed our cities and the monsters we created to stop them. We thought we had sacrificed enough. But the war we thought we finished… is just the beginning. And the only thing standing in front of the Apocalypse… is us.” – John Boyega’s character, Jake Pentecost, tells his team.

The science fiction monster film, directed by Steven S. DeKnight, is set ten years after the Battle of the Breach and ex-jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost (John Boyega), son of the late Stacker Pentecost, as he joins fellow Jaeger pilots to prevent humanity’s extinction when the Kaiju threat returns.

“This is our time, this is our chance to make a difference.” – Boyega’s character adds, while on screen ex-jaeger pilots are shown preparing to face the enemy. A series of fighting scenes follow, revealing that the next generation of heroes will confront a robot of unexpected dimension. Charlie Day, Burn Gorman and Rinko Kikuchi reprise their roles from the original film, alongside new cast members Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny, Jing Tian, Adria Arjona, Karan Brar, and others.

The song used in the trailer is the posthumous single “Untouchable” by 2Pac, featuring Krayzie Bone, from the album “Pac’s Life”, released in 2006.

Pacific Rim: Uprising is set to be released in theaters on March 23, 2018.
