CoverGirl has launched a new campaign, titled #IAmWhatIMakeUp, celebrating every woman’s power to create who she is and who she wants to be, and welcoming the newest CoverGirls: Ayesha Curry, Issa Rae, Shelina Moreda, Maye Musk, Katy Perry and Massy Arias.
The spot released by the cosmetics brand, beginning with the question “What’s the world for you if you can’t make it up the way you want it?” (raised by Toni Morrison), features the six women wearing make-up, among the products used for their beauty looks being the Peacock Flare Mascara, the TruNaked Jewels Eyeshadow Palette, the TruBlend Liquid Makeup, the Ink it! By Perfect Point Plus gel eyeliner and others.
“Makeup is a tool that you can use to transform yourself. I think that’s important. You don’t need the makeup. It just makes you feel fun and allows you to be creative. That’s what I love about it.” – Canadian–American actress Ayesha Curry said of makeup. Katy Perry has shared her thoughts about makeup, as well, revealing that she can express whatever she wants with her paints, with her tools, and with her makeup. “It’s very exciting to have this
canvas that can change… it is however I feel.” – the singer added.
Issa Rae, the creator, co-writer and star of the HBO series Insecure, states that “Becoming a CoverGirl means a lot because the brand recognizes just how important it is for people to embrace their individuality, and express themselves in unique and diverse ways”.
The graceful, silver-haired model and dietitian Maye Musk (69) believes that makeup “just makes you look more confident and you feel happy about yourself.” and trainer and Instagram fitness sensation Massy Arias shares the same opinion, apparently, as she reveals she loves to feel “that extra confidence” given by makeup,
which she puts on even when she goes at the gym, sometimes.
motorcycle racer, Shelina Moreda reveals that every time she goes to the track she wants to put her makeup on because it makes her feel “strong” and “badass”.
The song playing in the ad is “And I Like It” by American rock band Jefferson Airplane, from their debut album, “Jefferson Airplane Takes Off”, released in 1966.
