The HBO hit comedy-drama series Insecure, starring Issa Rae, returns Sunday, July 23, at 10.30, with its second season.
The show, created by Rae and Larry Wilmore, explores the black female experience from the perspective of the
two female protagonists – Issa (Issa Rae) and Molly (Yvonne Orji) – who have been friends with each other since their college days.
The cast also includes Jay Ellis, Amanda Seales, Lisa Joyce, Natasha Rothwell, Spencer Garrett, Lil Rel Howery, Denise Dowse, and others.
The season 2 trailer features Issa telling her friend she’s “just tired of this dating stuff” after a series of dates that didn’t go too well. In another scene, she reveals she wants her man (Lawrence) back and that she was lying when she was saying the opposite.
“I betrayed his trust and I have to give him space to forgive me.” – she says to a group of friends, at an event, talking about Lawrence.
Molly will have her tribulations, as well. She tries to find a way to tell the partners at the corporation she works for as an attorney that she was paid less than a coworker who happens to be a “white guy”.
