Givenchy has released a new commercial for the modernized reinterpretation of the brand’s legendary men’s fragrance Givenchy Gentleman, launched this year under the name of Gentleman Givenchy.
The 60-second spot features actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a bored guest at a party who decides to liven up the atmosphere by changing the music people are listening to and starting to dance on the table together with a young woman. A bare-chested dancer follows the two as they leave the room and go down the stairs and then outside. Taylor-Johnson, dressed in a black suit, proves to be a gentleman by giving his jacket to the dancer and the flower he was wearing in the jacket’s pocket to the lady.
The spot ends with the actor stopping the woman determined to jump into the pool with the flower in her hand and then being pushed by her when she realizes that he didn’t want her to have the flower “thrown” in the water.
The ad, directed by English filmmaker and photographer Sam Taylor-Johnson, the wife of Aaron Taylor-Johnson, features the song “Enjoy Yourself” by American rapper A+, from his second and final album, “Hempstead High”, released in 1999.
Gentleman Givenchy, with a woody, floral, fougere composition by perfumers Olivier Cresp and Nathalie Lorson, is described as “a modern and offbeat vision of masculine elegance where respect for conventions, benevolence and taste for shared pleasures are combined with audacity, enthusiasm and spontaneity”.
Available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette, the fragrance, including notes of pear, cardamom, iris, lavender, patchouli, leather accord, and black vanilla, comes in a bottle that gives a modern look to its classic design.
