Samsung Galaxy S8 Commercial Song: Bixby

Samsung Galaxy S8 Bixby Commercial

Samsung showcases what Bixby can do in a new commercial promoting the Galaxy S8.

The spot begins with a young man entering a Chinese food restaurant on a rainy day and using Bixy to translate the message written on the fortune from the fortune cookie he’s had for dessert. “Today is your lucky day.” – is the translation made by Samsung’s new virtual personal assistant, which helps him, throughout the rest of the day, with various other info and tasks, such as texting a woman to invite her out that night, providing immediately access to an online shop to buy the shoes he saw on a bill in a bus station, giving info about the weather and reminding him to check lottery results when he gets home.

The spot ends with the guy receiving a reminder from Bixby when he’s at the entrance to his flat, but when his love interest, Jenny, texts him to turn around he does that and, goes to her, hitting “Snooze” on the reminder.
The song used in the ad is “Dancing to the Beat” by Clarence Murray off his 2006 album, “Clarence Murray’s Baby You Got It”.

Bixby made its debut at Samsung Unpacked on March 29. Today, the brand introduced Bixby voice capabilities for U.S. English in the United States and Korea. Bixby’s added functionality will let users seamlessly navigate their phones and easily switch between voice commands, touch, vision and text. Among the tasks users can ask Bixby to perform are turning on the flashlight, taking a selfie, and finding photos in the phone’s memory and create a specific album.

Bixby’s voice service can be used, thus, also in the US starting today by updating the application to the latest software version. Voice capabilities for Bixby can be activated by pushing the dedicated Bixby hardware button located on the side of the Galaxy S8 and S8+, or by simply saying “Hi Bixby”.
