Lauren May is getting a little bit shirty in the latest ad for River Island, which highlights that “This season it’s all about taking the lead, interrupting the trends your way and breaking the style rules”.
The spot, part of the high street fashion brand’s #FindYourself campaign, features the British plus-size model sporting an oversized and embellished shirt and looking at the camera, while in the background the track “Peaky” by Bearcubs feat. Beau Young Prince is playing.
Asked what style means to her, Lauren answered that, to her, style is “a visual way of expressing yourself and how you feel.”, mentioning that “It’s so important for people to be able to do this” and that “Style and fashion brings people together”.
Lauren, who entered the plus size modelling industry in 2014, after winning a competition run by ASOS and Models 1 to find the next successful Plus Size model, is currently working for British brand Dorothy Perkins.
The British brand’s #FindYourself campaign stars also radio DJ and presenter Roman Kemp in a spot titled “Prints Charming”, inviting viewers to forget the fairy tales because prints have more charm that princes, blogger Hannah Louise in a spot which champions the Little Black Top as the new night out alternative to the Little Black Dress, DJ and presenter Ashley James, who shows us how to mix and clash, and others.
