Lysol celebrates the protective strength of mothers, in its latest ad, by enlisting the help of some of the fiercest mothers in the animal kingdom.
The 60-second spot released by the brand of cleaning and disinfecting products distributed by Reckitt Benckiser, doesn’t feature any of these products, but only kids protected by their mothers when they need protection: when they’re bullied and also in everyday situations. The mothers are not women, though, but wild animals, that are, obviously, computer-generated. Thus, we see a mama bear helping a little girl crossing the street and roaring toward a driver that doesn’t stop his car immediately, a mama eagle holding her large wing above his young boy to keep him out of the rain in the bus station, a monkey trying to delouse her teenage son, which is not very helpful, however, as she does this when he notices the girl he likes at the mall, an elephant coming to the rescue of her young boy, who’s being teased by older boys, and a lioness on a couch, with a little girl leaning against her body, after having falling asleep.
The commercial ends with the onscreen lines “Protect like a mother.”, “It’s what you do. It’s what we do.” and with the brand’s tagline, “What It Takes To Protect”.
