Warner Bros. released today a 30-second TV spot featuring reviews for the upcoming King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, hitting theaters May 12.
The fantasy film co-written and directed by Guy Ritchie follows young Arthur as he discovers his royal lineage after drawing the sword Excalibur from the stone and decides to become involved with his power. He must learn to master the sword, face his demons, confront his tyrant uncle who killed his parents and get his crown back from him to become king. The cast ensemble includes Charlie Hunnam in the leading role, Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey, Aidan Gillen, Eric Bana, Jude Law, Hermione Corfield, Lorraine Bruce, Annabelle Wallis, Neil Maskell, David Beckham, Poppy Delevingne, and others.
The film was shown at select AMC Theatres in a special preview on April 27, in a promotional event titled “King for a Day.” The reviews displayed on screen, in the ad released by the distribution company, describe the film as “exhilarating”, “sweeping”, “stunning”, “Guy Ritchie + King Arthur = Brilliance”, “Hugely Enjoyable”, and as “A royal knockout”.
The spot gives viewers also the chance to hear some of the characters’ lines; first a discussion between Law’s character, tyrant Vortigern, and Hunnam’s Arthur can be heard as follows: “You felt it, didn’t you? asks Vortigern, referring to “the power” and telling him “You just don’t know how to control it.”. Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey’s character, an enigmatic young woman named Guinevere, tells Arthur that he “should be scared”.
“Ready to beat, you’re a beast. Are you a beast?” – are the lyrics of the song playing in the spot.
