Jeep promotes the All-New Jeep Compass, coming this spring, in a commercial highlighting that, with this new compact SUV to guide, you can follow all the directions in which the journey of life moves you.
The 60-second spot, titled “Recalculating”, features several persons who decide to make a change in their lives, change that is marked by the word “Recalculating”, told by the voiceover, who’s also giving instructions to the respective persons, such as “In 15 feet, turn left”, “Go straight to a steady job”, “Stay single until you’re 34”, “Be a vegan”. However, they all decide to do exactly the opposite. Thus, the first person decides to go straight ahead instead of turning left, the woman advised to go to a steady job turns around and leaves, without entering the office building, the man advised to stay single proposes to his girlfriend, and the man advised to be a vegan indulges in a steak.
The ad continues with images of people who are somehow at crossroads in their lives and with the voiceover saying just “Recalculating”: a man and his friends in a Jeep Compass on a forest road seeing a bear and locking themselves in the car, a young girl looking at a pregnancy test that’s positive, a couple moving in their first house, a man holding his newborn baby, a couple and their little daughter on a road trip.
Throughout the ad, which features a well chosen soundtrack, with a male singer singing “Set me free”, the SUVs from the Jeep Compass range (Limited, Trailhawk, Latitude, and Sport) are shown, conveying the idea that all these persons use them in their new endeavors.
The ad ends with the voiceover saying “Recalculating. Love. Hope. Happiness. Whatever your destination, there’s a
million beautiful ever-changing ways to get us there.” and with the onscreen lines “Find Your True North.”, “Your All New Compass”.
