The online real estate database company Zillow promotes its services in a commercial that tugs at the viewers’ heartstrings.
“Sometimes finding home means a fresh start, being closer to family, and star gazing. Because you’re not just looking for a house. You’re looking for a place for your life to happen. Zillow helps you find it.” – this is the message conveyed in the 60-second spot, titled “Stars” and featuring a dad looking for a new house for him, his little son and their dog. As photos of the entire family (including also the mother) are everywhere in the house, it is not clear in the first place why she’s not around, but, as the spot comes to its end, we get to understand that the boy’s mom is dead and his father bought a house – through Zillow, of course – that has an attic, so that the kid could watch the night sky before falling asleep and feel closer to her (who is, according to him, “the brightest star” in the sky).
The ad, featuring the song “Our Corner Of The Universe” by K.S Rhoads (used in the trailer for The Little Prince), ends with Zillow’s tagline, “Find Your Way Home”.
