Chris Hemsworth reprises his role as Thor in the upcoming superhero film Thor: Ragnarok, set to be released this fall. November.
A sequel to 2011’s Thor and 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok, directed by Taika Waititi, is set after the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron and follows the crown prince of Asgard as he must face Hulk in a gladiatorial duel on the planet Sakaar, where he is being held captive. His chance to return to his kingdom and stop the villains Hela and Ragnarok from destroying it is to defeat the genius scientist transformed into a monster.
The film, starring also Mark Ruffalo as Hulk, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban, Anthony Hopkins, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sam Neill, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios, will hit the US theaters on November 3.
The trailer, set to the rhythms of Led Zeppelin’s 1970 single “Immigrant Song”, features how Thor is taken hostage on the planet Sakaar, where he is presented as a “contender”. When the “main event” (the gladiatorial duel) is about to begin, Thor, showing up in the arena with his long hair cut, is introduced to his opponent, none other than the “Incredible Hulk”. Seeing him, Thor utters a joyful “Yes”, making the audience go silent, and explains that they know each other, adding that he (Hulk) is “a friend from work”. Unfortunately for him, his friend from work doesn’t seem very friendly, and as he goes at him fiercely.
