The official trailer for the upcoming Freeform original series Siren has been dropped and fans of this genre are definitely impatient for 2018 to come. Yes, this is another series slated to debut next year on the cable network.
Set in Bristol Cove, a coastal town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids, the new TV show follows Ryn (Eline Powell), a new mysterious young woman who proves this folklore true. Ben (Alex Roe) is a marine biologist drawn to her, who learns that many mermaids have been murdered in cold blood a long time ago and realizes that they, considered “predatory beings”, might return to reclaim their right to the ocean.
The trailer, released with the message that “Every town has a story.”, “Every tale has a believer.”, and that “Beneath the surface the truth is hiding under the skin.”, features also other characters, such as Maddie (Fola Evans-Akingbola), also a marine biologist who works with Ben, and is highly suspicious of Ryn, Helen (Rena Owen), the town eccentric who seems to know more about the mermaids than she lets on, and Xander (Ian Verdun), a deep sea fisherman on a quest to uncover the truth.
The song playing in the trailer is the 2016 single “Madness” by Ruelle, who is the Nashville-based singer and songwriter Maggie Eckford.
