May and the April Showers
Marshalls has released a new commercial, highlighting that you never know what you’re going to find at them, but you’re going to love it.
The 30-second spot tells the story of young woman May, who gets all wet during an April shower that catches her without an umbrella and, moreover, a dog turns into a furry tsunami when shaking off near her and splashes her. “It was shaping up to be a most miserable day, but then… destiny struck”, tells the narrator, continuing with a question: “Did May imagine April showers bringing her fashionable flowers at such a sunny price?”, referring to the beautiful floral dress she found at Marshalls and changed into. “Never”, comes the answer still from the narrator, who adds that “that’s the beauty of a store full of surprises: you never know what you’re going to find, but you know you’re going to love it”.
The spot, featuring the song “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” by American singer B. J. Thomas, from his 1994 album “Forrest Gump”, ends with the chain of American and Canadian off-price department stores tagline, “Your Surprise Is Waiting”.
