Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez, presented as boxing’s biggest star and son of a legend, star in a 45-second commercial for the upcoming match they will face each other, slated for May 6.
Shown on opposite sides, one standing on a rock and the other on a hill, seeing from above the city, the two set out to encounter, running across a Mexican desert, passing through a concrete wall (seen as Donald Trump’s border wall) and leaving clouds of dust behind them.
“On Saturday, May 6, the world will be watching to see who becomes Mexico’s undisputed boxing king”, says the voiceover, while on screen viewers can see the two opponents in Las Vegas, where the fight will take place, looking straight into each other’s eyes.
The 12-round match, scheduled to start at 9pm ET, will play live on Pay-Per-View in HD where available. Tickets for the closed circuit telecast of the battle considered one of the biggest boxing events in history are priced at $75, not including applicable fees.
Oscar De La Hoya, the CEO of the company putting on the fight, stated that this ad, which has been produced by Leigh Simons Productions, aims to highlight that “not every Mexican is what President Trump has labeled them”.
