GEICO has released a new commercial part of its “It’s Not Surprising” campaign, showcasing that having Julius Caesar on a Caesar salad at the restaurant is surprising, but how much money one can save is not surprising.
The 30-second spot, titled “Hail, Caesar Salad!”, starts with the Roman emperor (played by Time Winters) delivering a rousing speech, saying that “cowards die many times before their deaths”. “The valiant taste of death, but once!” – continues Caesar, standing on his namesake dish on a restaurant table. At this point, an old lady (played by Gloria Heaton) seated at the table calls a waiter and reminds him that she had ordered the soup. The latter presents apologies and asks Caesar to get down the table.
“Caesar on a Caesar salad? Surprising. What’s not surprising? How much money Matt saved by switching to GEICO. Fifteen minutes could save you 15% or more”, says the voiceover at the end of the ad, which features Caesar again asking the waiter if he can get his parking validated.
