GEICO Commercial 2017 – Robbery

GEICO continues its “It’s Not Surprising” campaign with a new commercial, showing you what happens when you put the new guy in charge of the getaway car.

The 30-second spot, titled “Getaway Car”, features three thieves (played by Vincent Duvall, Vince Lozano, and Bill Kittkamp) getting out of a museum they robbed and discovering that their getaway car is not there. The reason why? The new guy ordered a rideshare from an app and the driver, Randy (played by Nick Puga), shows up 4 minutes late. In this time, the “experienced” thieves are all stressed up because of the driver’s absence, but the youngster who recently joined their “gang” becalms them.

“It’ll be there in three, uh, four minutes”, he says looking at the route chosen by the ordered car.
“Are you kidding me?”, asks one of his “co-workers” furious.
“No, it looks like he took a wrong turn”, says the new guy, adding “Don’t worry, this guy’s got like a four-star rating.
We’re good. His name is Randy. That’s like one of the most trustworthy names”. In the meantime, the alarm has been sounded and the police set out to the museum.
“Ordering a getaway car with an app? Surprising. What’s not surprising? How much money Erin saved by Switching to GEICO” – says the voiceover as the spot comes to its end.
Getting back to the getaway car, once the three thieves get on, Randy asks if everybody is comfortable with the air
temperature. The new guy’s response that he could go a little cooler doesn’t allow Randy to change the temp because
they are soon surrounded by police cars.
“Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more” – says the voiceover at the end of the ad.
