AT&T has released a series of new commercials, inviting you to experience the “Unlimited Effect” when you switch to AT&T wireless and have DIRECTV.
The 30-second-long spots, titled “Quotes”, features how this “Unlimited Effect” manifests everyday and everywhere. The “affected” person is a young man, who inserts movie quotes in his daily conversations or monologues. “I love the smell of napalm in the morning” when he actually has a double espresso (said by Lieutenant Colonel Bill Kilgore in Apocalyse Now), “Hodor Hodor” when he wants people from the elevator to hold the door for him (Hodor is a character in the HBO fantasy series Games of Thrones), “Inconceivable” when he misses the hole at golf (this is a film with Nicholas Cage and Faye Dunaway), “And don’t call me Shirley” when a co-worker says she’s serious during a meeting (this is a quote from 1980 Airplane!), “Hasta la vista, baby” when he says goodbye to a toddler seated in the back of a car (this is a quote from Terminator 2), “I’m a fat guy in a little coat” when he tries on a coat in a store (a scene from Tommy Boy movie) – are some of the quotes the man says.
The spots end with the voiceover saying “That’s the Unlimited Effect. Stream your entertainment more with unlimited data when you switch to AT&T wireless and have DIRECTV. Plus get the amazing new iPhone 7 on us”.
