USPS Hippopotamus Commercial

The United States Postal Service Christmas ad campaign aims to highlight that USPS can deliver whatever you need, anytime you need.

The 60-second “Hippo” TV commercial features a young girl who sees a hippopotamus, whom she falls in love with instantaneously.

She then starts singing a song expressing her Christmas wish:
“I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses
I only like hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too”.

Her parents decide to buy online a cuddly hippo, a hippo lunch box and a violet hippo robot for her, which are all delivered by the United States Postal Service.

At the end of the spot, showing how the boxes travel across the country regardless of weather conditions to be carried to the destination in due time, the voiceover says: “At the United States Postal Service, we deliver more online purchases to homes than anyone else in the country. And more hippopotamuses, too. So whatever your holiday priority, our priority is you”.

The end of the spot features the young girl who, after unwrapping the gift boxes, sees a deer out the window, and looks significantly to her parents, whose reaction is priceless.
