Channel 4 has released the trailer for the upcoming drama Ellen, starring Jessica Barden as a 14-year-old teenager who tries to control her life in a world that would rather ignore her. With a continuous chaos at home, her life changes when she befriends Kayla and when she meets the charming Jason.
Scheduled to air on Thursday, September 1, at 10pm, the 90-minute film, developed and produced for Channel 4’s Coming Up scheme, marks the debut of writer Sarah Quintrell and director Mahalia Belo.
The cast ensemble includes also Jaime Winstone, Yasmin Monet Prince, Joe Dempsie, Charlie Creed-Miles and others. The music is composed by Jonathan Hill, also marking his broadcast drama debut.
The track used in the trailer is “Borders” by the English hip hop recording artist Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, better known by her stage name M.I.A.
Lyrics
Freedom, ‘I’dom, ‘Me’dom
Where’s your ‘We’dom?
This world needs a brand new ‘Re’dom
We’dom – the key
We’dom the key’dom to life
Let’s be ‘dem
We’dom smart phones
Don’t be dumb
Borders
What’s up with that?
Politics
What’s up with that?
Police shots
What’s up with that?

What’s up with that?
Your privilege
What’s up with that?
Broke people
What’s up with that?
Boat people
What’s up with that?
The realness
What’s up with that?
The new world
What’s up with that?
Am gonna keep up on all that..
