“There are two types of people in the world: the people who radiate confidence and naturally excel at life and the people who hope all those people die in a big explosion”. Nadine, a high-school girl and the protagonist of the upcoming American comedy drama The Edge of Seventeen and the “author” of this phrase, includes herself in the second category.

Her relationship with her best friend, Krista, deteriorates when the latter begins dating Nadine’s older brother, who is one of the high-school “golden boys”.
The official red band trailer has been released and it reveals quite much: Nadine’s complex, her friendship with the one friend getting ruined, her attempt of expressing her feelings toward the boy she likes.
Written and directed by Kelly Fremon, The Edge of Seventeen stars Hailee Steinfeld, Haley Lu Richardson, Blake Jenner, Woody Harrelson, and Kyra Sedgwick and is set to be released in US theaters this fall, on September 30.
The song playing in the trailer is “Help”, a Beatles acustic cover from “I am Sam Ost”, performed by Howie Day.

Lyrics

I need somebody not just anybody, help
You know I need someone

When I was younger, so much younger than today
I never needed anybody’s help in any way
And now these days are gone I’m not so self assured
Now I find I’ve changed my mind, I’ve opened up the doors

Help me if you can, I’m feeling down
And I do appreciate you being ’round
Help me get my feet back on the ground
Won’t you please, please help me
