The Childhood of a Leader is a historical mystery drama film, about the childhood life of a fascist leader during World War I.
The movie follows an American boy living in France with his parents. After witnessing the creation of the Treaty of Versailles, he develops a terrifying ego and his relationship with those around him are deeply affected.
Brady Corbet’s feature film directorial debut brought him critical acclaim at the 2015 Venice International Film Festival, when The
Childhood of a Leader premiered, winning the award for Best Debut film and Best Director.
Inspired from Jean-Paul Sartre’s short story The Childhood of a Leader, the film stars Tom Sweet as Prescott, the boy, Bérénice Bejo and Liam Cunningham as Prescott’s parents, Robert Pattinson as adult Prescott, Stacy Martin, Yolande Moreau and others.
The Childhood of a Leader will be released in US theaters on July 22, while the soundtrack album, containing 18 original tracks composed by singer-songwriter, composer and record producer Scott Walker, will be released by 4AD on August 19. The track used in the trailer is “Opening”.
