Poi E: The Story of Our Song (2016 Documentary)
Poi E: The Story of Our Song is a documentary about the song of the same name, released 32 years ago, which has become New Zealand’s unofficial national anthem.
The film, written and directed by Tearepa Kahi, features how the highest-selling single in New Zealand in 1984 gave pride to generations of New Zealanders, with statements from Dalvanius Prime, Ngoingoi Pēwhairangi, Pātea Māori Club, Barletta Prime, Taika Waititi, Stan Walker, the Topp Twins, and Maaka Pōhatu.
Poi-E will premiere on July 14, opening the 2016 NZ International Film Festival (NZIFF).
