The official trailer for A Tale of Love and Darkness, the adaption of the autobiographical novel of the same name by Israeli author Amos Oz, has been released.
The drama film, which marks the directorial debut of Natalie Portman, chronicles Oz’s childhood in Jerusalem, since he was 8 years old, in 1945, at the end of the British Mandate for Palestine, and the early years of the State of Israel, and his teenage years on Kibbutz Hulda.
Portman plays herself Oz’s mother, Fania. Gilad Kahana (who plays Oz’s father, Arieh) and young Amir Tessler (who plays Amos Oz) co-star.
The release is theaters is set for August 19.
