David Brent: Life on the Road
Ricky Gervais returns with a mockumentary comedy that he wrote, directed and produced, about David Brent, a character he played in the TV series “The Office”.
The film, titled “David Brent: Life on the Road”, features Brent, who fancies himself a rock star, travelling across the country with his band, Foregone Conclusion, and a film crew. The tour doesn’t go as planned and, as the ticket sales are low, Brent has to use his pension to fund part of his rock concert and to pay his band members.
Ben Bailey Smith stars alongside Gervais as Dom Johnson, whose music career is hold back by Brent. The English rapper,
known as Doc Brown, wrote and performed together with Ricky Gervais the spoof reggae song “Equality Street”, which can
be heard in the official international trailer released on June 17.
Among the other tracks from David Brent’s album are “Native American” and “Please Don’t Make Fun Of The Disabled”, written by Gervais with Andy Burrows of Razorlight and We Are Scientists.
The mockumentary is set to be released in UK this summer, on August 19.
