Volkswagen showcases its all-electric ID. Family in a new commercial, highlighting that it’s time for a power shift: time for everyone to plug in and take part in a new movement.
“This is for all of us. All as in everyone. The many. The millions. It’s time for a power shift,” says the voiceover at the beginning of the 60-second spot, which features a diverse cast juxtaposed with footage of the ID.
Family “members”. “It’s time to plug in. It’s time for electric cars for the people. Electric mobility from Volkswagen. Cars that speak to you. Learn from you. And connect you to the world. Cars that are as alive as you are. Cars that can reach new milestones. For everyone. In every shape and size. By harnessing power for the few one can make a change. But by harnessing power for the many, we can change the world,” the voiceover also says, adding the tagline “ID. Volkswagen, just electric”.
The soundtrack music is the 2018 single “Hold On, I’m Coming” by Book featuring Canadian singer-songwriter Ndidi O (Ndidi Onukwulu by her real name).
In the past few weeks, the German automaker has been promoting the newest members of the ID. lineup, including the all-electric ID. ROOMZZ SUV, a zero-emission concept car of the five-metre class, which was unveiled at this year’s Shanghai Auto Show, back in April, the exclusive special edition ID.3 1ST, which “marks the beginning of a new era in electromobility,” and the ID. BUGGY, a brand new concept car unveiled at the Geneva International Motor Show 2019, described as a modern reinterpretation of the classic American dune buggy.
The VW ID lineup also includes the Crozz (a self-driving crossover SUV), Vizzion (a 400-mile range, 75-kWh motor sedan), the Buzz and the Buzz Cargo (a pair of microbus concepts).
