Netflix has just released the trailer for the upcoming series Tidelands, set to launch next month, on December 14th.
The show, which marks the streaming service’s first Australian original series, revolves around Cal McTeer, an ex-con who returns home to Orphelin Bay, a mysterious small fishing village, and discovers that she’s been living in a web of lies about the residents, who are a group of dangerous half-sirens, half-humans called “Tidelanders,” her past and her family.
Written and created by Stephen M. Irwin & Leigh McGrath, the ten-part series stars Charlotte Best as Cal, Aaron Jakubenko, Peter O’Brien, Madeleine Madden, Elsa Pataki, Mattias Inwood, Marco Pigossi and Dalip Sondhi.
“In Orphelin Bay a new power will rise. Secrets will unfold. The tide is about to turn.” onscreen lines read throughout the trailer, which gives viewers a glimpse into the action, without revealing too much, though.
The song playing in the background is the 2018 single “Hunger” by Melbourne based producer, singer and songwriter Elle Graham, professionally known as Woodes, from her 2018 “Golden Hour” EP.
