MetroPCS Wildebeest Migration - Metro by T-Mobile Commercial

MetroPCS, which is now Metro by T-Mobile, has released a new ad, informing that its new plans have unlimited high-speed data all month long and, since Metro by T-Mobile is on the T-Mobile network, you will have access to the most advanced LTE network in the U.S.

The commercial features two wildebeests on the bank of a river, talking to each other. Seeing crocodiles in the water, one of them asks if they really need to cross the river, but his travel companion avoids to give an answer, asking instead “Did you hear MetroPCS is now Metro by T-Mobile?” He then informs that, “now, their new plans have unlimited high-speed data all month long, all on the T-Mobile network,” and adds that he’s thinking about switching. The first wildebeest believes that’s a smart thing and, learning that his new friend is also thinking about taking the bridge nearby to cross the river, says “Nice”.

At the end of the spot, the voiceover informs that MetroPCS is now Metro by T-Mobile and “the smarter way to get unlimited” and adds the tagline “That’s Genius!”.

The song playing at the end is the instrumental part of Usher’s 2004single “Yeah!” featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris, from Usher’s fourth studio album, Confessions, released in 2004.

MetroPCS’ change of name was announced earlier this year, in September, more than five years after T-Mobile’s acquisition of the carrier.

A new advertising campaign, informing about the new name and the new enhanced unlimited data plans, as well as about the fact that the company’s service runs on the same wireless network as T-Mobile, has been launched.
