Claws returns to TNT this summer with its second season. The TV channel has released a promo informing viewers that the new season will premiere on June 10.
Described as ” midnight-dark, wickedly funny meditation on female badness”, the series revolves around five manicurists working at the Nail Artisan salon of Manatee County, Florida, “where there is a lot more going on than silk wraps and pedicures.” Claws is, according to the official synopsis, “about good women caught in bad places with worse men. It’s the story of hardworking women trying to get by in this economy, set against the surreal, bright, gritty landscape of Florida and the luscious, absurd, extreme excesses of the crime world”.
The first season, containing 10 episodes, premiered on June 11, 2017 and has received mostly positive reviews.
The cast includes Niecy Nash as Desna Simms, the owner of Nail Artisans, Carrie Preston, Judy Reyes, Jenn Lyon, Jack Kesy, Dean Norris. Season 2 will see Franka Potente portraying Zlata Ostrovsky, the newly reformed, former black sheep daughter of a powerful Russian mob family who does business in Florida, Sheryl Lee Ralph as Matilde Ruval, the Haitian mother of Gregory, Jimmy Jean-Louis as Dr. Gregory Ruval, Desna’s love interest, whose role in the Haitian mafia is unknown to her.
The song used in the promo is the 2016 single “Girl Gang” by New York rapper Leikeli47.
