Warner Bros. has just released a first teaser trailer for the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven spinoff, Ocean’s 8, informing
that the full trailer drops tomorrow, December 19.
Directed by Gary Ross, who also served as a writer alongside Olivia Milch, the film follows Debbie Ocean and her crew of seven other women as they attempt to pull off a jewelry heist at New York City’s yearly Met Gala.
The cast ensemble also includes Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, and Awkwafina. Many others, including Matt Damon, Dakota Fanning, Richard Armitage, and celebrities like James Corden, Hailey Baldwin, Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, and Zayn Malik, are announced to be part of the cast.
The 15-second teaser opens with Blanchett’s character, Lou, asking Sandra Bullock’s character, Debbie Ocean, “Why do you need to do this?”. They are having lunch in a restaurant and the latter, who’s eating, doesn’t give an answer right away. The other crew members, including Rihanna, who’s sporting treadlocks, Anne Hathaway, who’s slapping a man, Helena Bonham Carter, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, and Mindy Kaling, are also seen for a second, while in the background a cover of Nancy Sinatra’s 1966 hit single “These Boots Are Made for Walkin'” is playing. Finally, Debbie’s answer to Lou’s question is revealed: “Cause this is what I’m good at”.
Ocean’s 8 is scheduled to hit theaters on June 8, 2018.
