GEICO has launched a new ad campaign, entitled “Love More”, aiming to highlight that GEICO loves saving people money on car insurance more than Puxatony Phil Loves Groundhog Day, for instance, and more than lawyers love to argue, and more than virtual assistants love to annoy you.
One of the spots, dubbed “Peanut Butter Loves Jelly”, begins with the voiceover raising the question “How much does GEICO love saving people money on car insurance?” and giving the answer himself: “More than peanut butter loves jelly”. The ad then continues with a jar of Orange Marmalade entering his daughter’s room (his daughter being Jelly) and freaking out when he sees her in bed (which is in the shape of a slice of bread) with a jar of Peanut Butter. “Gillian, you’re too young to be getting into bread together.” – he tells her. “Dad, I’m 35.” – Gillian reminds him and the Peanut Butter intervenes: “Hey Mr. M, remember me?”. “Don’t even!” – shouts in despair Mr. M.
The spots included in the Love More campaign have been directed by Don Cherel, the director of several award winning commercial advertisements. Among the actors starring in the spots there are John Enos, who played Bobby Marsino in the soap opera The Young and the Restless, and Jay Johnson, best known for his role on the TV show Soap, who’s also a ventriloquist.
