State Farm Commercial - Couple Renovating House

State Farm continues its “Backstory” campaign with a new commercial, promoting its home insurance policies.

The spot, titled “Remodel”, features a young couple who buy a ramshackle house and embark on a mission to remodel it, which implies living in quite difficult conditions for a while, being “forced” to wash their teeth with bottle water and take showers by emptying full buckets in their heads. They are shown at various stages of works, doing things together for the house, without forgetting important events for them, such as her birthday, and showing their affection and appreciation through simple, small acts of kindness.

“While other insurance companies just see a house, we see a home you’ve worked really hard for, so why not give it the protection it deserves?” – says the voiceover in the spot, which features also the couple’s baby girl, a cute toddler crawling on the hallway and sitting in a special swing for babies, on the house porch, while her parents are still busy with the renovation.

The song used in the ad is the popular song “A Bushel and a Peck” performed by Doris Day.
