Walmart has launched a new ad campaign, dedicated to fighting hunger in America, and highlights, in its first ad, that, when you buy select items at Walmart, you help secure a meal for someone in need.
The 30-second spot, released with the title “Chain Reaction. Fight Hunger. Spark Change.”, and set to the rhythms of Joe Cocker’s single “With A Little Help From My Friends”, features Walmart customers putting in their carts, while shopping for groceries, specially marked products, such as Cheerios Toasted Whole Grain Oat Cereal Family, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese Dinner Original Flavor, and Kellogg’s Pop-Tarts Frosted Strawberry Toaster Pastries, to help secure one meal for people struggling with hunger.
The ad features also a truck with the supermarket chain logo on it and the writing “Feeding America” travelling across the country to deliver food which is taken over by Walmart and Food Bank volunteers to pass it forward to those in need.
This campaign, with the tagline “Let’s fight hunger together.”, started on April 17 in-store and online and is set to end on May 15. Those willing to help fight hunger can donate to Feeding America member food banks at checkout in any Walmart store or donate online, can purchase (in-store, pickup, or online) specially marked items from a variety of categories, such as Breakfast & Cereal, Snacks, Cookies & Chips, Meals, Fresh Food, Frozen Foods, Condiments & Sauces and Beverages, or make an online act of support by sharing with #FightHunger (subsequently, Walmart will donate 90 cents, enough to help secure 10 meals through Feeding America member food banks up to $1.5 million).
