Citi has released a new funny commercial to promote its Double Cash Card, which does what it’s meant to do: help you earn 1% cash back when you buy and 1% as you pay.

The 30-second spot, created with the idea that it would be great if everyone said what they meant, features a date where the two potential lovers say what they think with no caution.

“Hi, I made plans for later in case this date doesn’t go well”, reveals the woman as she takes a seat at the restaurant table.
“Likewise. But, funny store, on top of that, my mom is my best friend”, says the man taking the slice of lemon out of his lemonade.
At this point, the woman’s phone rings.
“Oh, that’s the rescue text”, she says looking at her phone and adding “My roommate says she needs me”.
“Wouldn’t it be great if everyone said what they meant?”, asks the voiceover. “The Citi Double Cash Card does”, he adds, inviting you to get your double cash back by earning 1% when you buy and 1% as you pay. “The Citi Double Cash Card. Double Means Double”, says the voiceover at the end of the spot.
