Lily Collins returns to the silver screen as a devout Baptist beauty queen from Virginia and an aspiring actress in the upcoming romantic comedy-drama Rules Don’t Apply, scheduled to be released in US theaters on November 11, 2016.
The 27-year-old actress inhabits the character of Marla Mabrey, a young girl longing for success in 1950’s Hollywood, who falls for Frank Forbes (played by Alden Ehrenreich), an ambitious businessman. The problem is that the man they both work for, the billionaire filmmaker Howard Hughes (played by Warren Beatty, who is also the film director) does not accept any romantic or sexual interaction between his employees.
The cast ensemble includes also Matthew Broderick, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Amy Madigan, Ed Harris, Oliver Platt and others.
The official trailer features Lily Collins singing at the piano a song with the lyrics “He thought for a moment/ Then he answered/ So the rules don’t apply to you”. The second song used in the trailer is “Sing Sing Sing”, performed by the BBC Big Band Orchestra.
